Setting the listening port of Wireguard to 0 in client side makes it randomly choose a port on restart. By combining this with service restarts on ping failures, I can fix the issue.
- While it is not needed in client side Wireguard, server side Wireguard port must be static, incoming traffic to it must be allowed by the firewall and net.ipv4.ip_forward must be set to 1.

After a while, my home server and VPS stops handshaking and Wireguard connection gets lost. It's weird. Restarting the Wireguard service doesn't seem to work, however changing the home server's Wireguard port does. Why you can't just work reliably?

At least in the case we had a chance to analyse in detail, the behavior that annoys you was not a bug of RouterOS or Wireguard but a direct consequence of how the connection tracking in the firewall handles UDP connections and how temporary connectivity outages interact with that. So there is nothing to ask the Mikrotik developers to fix - every single individual component works as intended, it is only their combination under unfavourable conditions that leads to that annoying behavior. BTW, any other persistent UDP initiator, be it IPsec, L2TP, or SIP, can get affected by the same issue under the same conditions.
There is a number of conditions that have to be met simultaneously in order that the communication would get stuck this way. The key one is that the local UDP initiator process (Wireguard in our case) must keep trying to re-establish the connection to the other peer by actively sending some packets to the peer even if it receives no responses. Then, there must be a firewall with srcnat functionality either on the initiator device itself or on some device on the path between the initiator and the other peer. And lastly, there must be an event that causes that srcnat to assign to the UDP connection initiated by the process on the “private” side of the srcnat a reply-dst-address that differs from the WAN address that is used normally. If that happens, the connection tracking then keeps changing the source address of the handshake packets to that “wrong” reply-dst-address before forwarding them through the WAN. This may prevent them from reaching the remote peer at all if some ISP on the path uses filtering by source address, or the remote peer may receive them but not recognize them as they come with an unexpected source address (not relevant for the Wireguard case), or the remote peer may even send its responses to that “wrong” address but they don’t reach the initiator because that address is a private one so “the internet” cannot route those packets to the initiator.
If you have just a single WAN on the Mikrotik and you use action=masquerade to srcnat outgoing connections through that WAN, this normally does not happen because all tracked connections whose srcnat treatment has been triggered by an action=masquerade rule get removed if the system loses the reply-dst-address (so if the WAN goes down and up again or if the DHCP or PPPoE server lease out a different address). But if you use action=src-nat instead, or if there is some other route that can handle the traffic towards the Wireguard peer if the WAN is down and the traffic that takes that route gets srcnated, even by action=masquerade, the connection tracking can remember the wrong reply-dst-address “forever” and thus get into the “annoying” state if there is a glitch on the WAN even with action=masquerade handling that WAN itself.
And if the srcnat takes place in an external device, you get similar results under similar conditions - it is nothing RouterOS-specific.
So the remedy is to either squelch the attempts of the local process for long enough time that the tracked UDP connection would time out on the affected firewall/NAT device or to change the local side port so that the connection tracking would see the UDP packets as unrelated to the previous connection. Which approach is better depends on your particular setup, but a short-time outage and the need for scripting are unavoidable.

- Make the mass production and sale of devices intentionally designed to be unrepairable by the user illegal.
- Require the designers/producers of the devices to provide clear repair instructions and spare parts.
- Allow spare parts to be produced by other companies. Only with a small fee paid to the original designer when the parts are sold.
- Ensure produced devices do not contain any DRM (Digital Restrictions Management) mechanism and remain fully usable without the designer/producer or any online service.
- Prevent real hardware capabilities from being locked down by a software or any other mechanism.
- Make all the firmware designed for any device open-source and well documented.
- Ensure devices are not restricted to one kernel or operating system. Users should be able to install in them whatever they want, and the designers should provide instructions on how to do this.

A few days ago, for some reason, my laptop was decided to stop working with AUX earphones. Even though I tested it with 3 different earphones, it just wouldn't detect them. This shitty situation is forced me to use bluetooth earphones instead, which is a real pain because of it's battery capacity. I used these dudes until this day. But today, the days of suffering ends. In this very day and hour, I finally solved the problem with the help of these commands:

In mandos. For filtering and listing (f&l) I use a in-memory hash map that contains every node in the network. It is "good enough" for small ones, but it will consume unnecessarily large amounts of memory as the network grows (~1.5GiB for 0.5 million nodes). What is worse, f&l operations have a minimum time complexity of O(n).
Solution: I will use SQLite instead. With proper indexes, common queries will have a time complexity closer to O(log n), and it will handle larger networks much more efficiently.

In the summer break of 2024, I started building a decentralized social network server using the ActivityPub protocol. It was getting better and better until I decided to restructure the whole codebase to support multiple protocols, as it had been hardcoded for ActivityPub only. After that, a lot of bugs showed up and it became increasingly hard to maintain. I was created a monster, a spaghetti code. Trying to fix it quickly become very boring and I gave it a long break, more than a year, it was stressing me out.
When I recently went back to try fixing it, a lot was broken. It could be fixed, but I had no additional energy or time left because I was also studying for the university entrance exams.
So I’ve decided to postpone everything a bit longer (about 240 days), then start from scratch. That’ll be easier than maintaining the current mess, and this time I’ll make a clearer, better-documented, and more organized codebase.

I hate the double standards people have toward other living beings. Think about a cat. We think it's very cute, we pet it, and we give it a lot of attention and love. But what about a cockroach? Even though being born that way was not its choice, just because it does not appeal to our aesthetics, we do not like the cockroach. The same is true for other humans. If you are considered ugly, people will barely give you any attention, but if you are beautiful, they always make you compliments.

Once upon a time, it was common to live in ridiculously big houses, and we were not even using most of the space 70% of the time. Unfortunately, this affected today's indoor designs and furnitures, and things like dedicating a whole space to a bulky bed has became a must have. Nowdays, although, people are living in smaller and smaller apartments, they still trying to cramp the rooms with unnecessary stuff, and eventually leave no space to do their hobbies.
Really, you do not need to buy more clothes, you do not need to buy physical copies of books, and you do not need to dedicate a space just to a single purpose. You can sleep on the floor and when its morning, the same space can be used for studying.
It just feels bloat. I bet I could live happily in a van or something... You know what? I guess that's the exact thing I am going to do in the future.

Having an "idol" feels dumb. No individual has changed my life single-handedly. The thing changed me to make better decisions was the accumulation of ideas from a lot of people, and at the end, me myself.
Especially, carrying other people's brands, logos or photos on top of yourself, or your internet avatar is kinda weird. You are yourself, an individual. Not some person's pawn or walking advertisement. Instead of building your character on top of things like this, try to find some hobbies.

Coffee is not a good drink at all, and it tastes terrible! It's taste is so bad that we have to pour in a lot of milk and sugar to make it barely drinkable. Hey, Anything can be made drinkable if we pour enough milk and sugar in them. What is worse, while my only reason of drinking coffee is the caffeine, I do not feel any of the claimed effects of it. What am I doing wrong?
I may never understand the people who "cannot live" without it, but I have a theory. It is all because of the "big coffee." We were not liking it, but they made us like it by emphasizing how coffee is the best drink we can ever imagine in every medium we consume. They shaped our personality to buy it, and now, it is a billion dollar industry!
Or... I do not know how to make a proper coffee.
